Semiconductor Equipment Engineer (all genders)
The SAL team is looking for a motivated and hands-on R&D Service Engineer to support our cleanroom team. At SAL MicroFab, we work in a modern R&D cleanroom environment with high-end semiconductor equipment, bridging science and industry through innovative research and technology development.
In this position, you will take ownership of technical tasks that are essential for keeping our cleanroom operations running reliably and efficiently. You will work closely with engineers, researchers, and external suppliers while continuously developing your technical skills in a highly innovative environment. Your contribution will directly support cutting-edge research and future technology development at SAL.
Your future tasks include:
- Independently carrying out maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing of high-end cleanroom equipment
- Planning and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities on semiconductor tools
- Supporting the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and equipment reliability within the cleanroom environment
- Performing regular inspections of cleanroom facilities and infrastructure
- Assisting the cleanroom team with daily operational and technical tasks
- Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, maintenance records, and operating procedures
- Working closely with equipment suppliers and process engineers to improve tool performance and support advanced process development
- Coordinating service activities with external vendors as well as internal stakeholders
- Supporting organizational and administrative activities within the team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
Your profile:
- Completed apprenticeship or HTL degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a comparable technical field
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience working in an ISO 4/5/6 cleanroom environment
Experience in servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining cleanroom or semiconductor equipment - A reliable and motivated team player who is also able to work independently and solve technical challenges proactively
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
- Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel); experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus
- Good communication skills in German and English
- Comfortable working in an international and collaborative research environment where flexibility and teamwork are important

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group D (D1 salary = EUR 3.328, paid 14 times a year) based on 38,5 hours per week).
